PIM first university institute to get ISO certificate

The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) has received the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate, the first and only institute in the university system to receive this certification in Sri Lanka.
PIM’s quality management system was certified by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI). It confirms that the internal systems that are adopted by the Academic Administration and Finance Divisions as well as the Library and the IT Centre, four major components of the PIM’s management system, conform to best practices and stringent standards that a professional institution should possess. The standards apply to the processes of the Institute which have a direct impact on quality. It further emphasises continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, PIM officials said.
The key aspects of the standards are:
-Quality management system
-Management responsibility
-Resource management
-Product realization, and
-Measurement, analysis, and improvement
This certification confirms that PIM has installed and implemented the quality management system-requirements for all its areas of the business, including facilities, people, training, services and equipment.
The PIM, the country’s top school of business, provides management education through its Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and a variety of Executive Development Programmes (MDP) that meet global standards of excellence.
