Sanga wows at Vidura
View(s):Sri Lankan cricket star, Kumar Sangakkara, visited Vidura College Colombo, prior to engaging in the ongoing tour to Australia. According to officials of Vidura College, many of the school’s young sportsmen and women were enthralled by Sangakkara’s visit, which was organised by Nations Trust Bank.
“The main idea behind Mr. Sangakkara’s visit was to persuade our students to take up the good habit of saving and almost all of them were keen to do so after his encouraging speech,” Upali de Silva, the manager of sports at the school said.
During his speech,, Sangakkara advised the youngsters of Vidura College to engage in any sporting activity in order to keep fit. At this function Sangakkara met Sarath Wijeratne, his former teacher at Trinity College Kandy who is presently the cricket master-in-charge at Vidura College. Its Principal, D.G. Sumanasekara, also presented Sangakkara with a memento in appreciation of his valuable services rendered to Sri Lanka cricket. After the ceremony, Sangakkara took valuable time off to pose for pictures with the cricket team, the staff and sports coordinators of Vidura College. – NA
