Hills go rock with ‘Glory’ at ERH

Celebrating thirteen years of excellence, Kandy’s popular five star attraction Earl’s Regency Hotel is now ready to celebrate the New Year and anniversary together, which falls in December.
Popular music outfit, ‘Glory’ along withb singing sensation Mariazelle will come alive at the Earl’s Regency in Kandy at this year’s New Years Eve dinner dance ‘Blitz 2012’ at the main Reagent Ballroom.
Comprising of five young and upcoming musicians, ‘Glory’ was formed in 2008 in Moratuwa. ‘Glory’ comprises Sanuka Wickramasinghe on lead vocals, Shane Vas on guitar and vocals, Sahan Silva on bass and vocals, Janith Chathuranga on keyboards, saxophone and vocals and Lakshan Fernando on drums.
Well known for a musical style that combines elements of Pop, Classics, Rock n’ Roll, Soul, Funk, Classic Rock, R&B, Reggae, Country, Rumba Flamenco, Blues and Jazz, the band has the ability to cater to a wide array of music.
Sanuka possess an inborn talent for singing and comes from a very musical family. A full time musician Sanuka whilst being the lead vocalist is also a music composer. Shane has made his mark in the musical industry for being a guitarist who has a great ‘feel’ with regards to his musical capabilities and has mastered the talent for improvising to any style of music.
Sahan brings the groove to the band with his guitar and is famed for being a great ‘finger style’ and ‘pick bass guitarist’. Janith has a great talent for Jazz and Blues as well as an extraordinary talent for playing the keyboard. His many talents also include having a great voice to sing and harmonize. Lakshan is an exceptional musician with superb drumming skills. His inspiration is derived from the legendary drummer Simon Philips.
‘Glory with Mariazelle, the New Year bash are priced at Rs. 7000/- nett per adult and Rs 3500/- per child under 12 years of age.
There will be 10% off on ticket price, if ticket purchased before Monday, 10 December.
There will be lot of prizes and surprises. Nestling in the sprawling Dumbara Valley, overlooking the lush Knuckles mountain range and the scintillating Mahaweli River, Earl’s Regency Hotel kicked off its seasonal splendour on 12 December.
The hotel under the new skipper Neroy Marso onboard, has seen quite a few new happenings and additions during the past six months. The latest to be is the addition of 30 new luxury rooms. Originally established with 86 rooms in 1999, the hotel has expanded later to its high-end room capacity with six premium rooms, two premium plus, four suites and three mini suites.
‘The new 30 room wing will be ready by March 2013 and then the total number of rooms will be 134. With this new addition, we will be working towards speciality Indian Restaurant-‘The Spice’, which will be ready before the end of this year’ Mr. Marso said.
The executive Chef of the hotel Wasantha Peiris said the ‘The Spice’ restaurant has already got its Indian speciality chef Balibir Singh.
‘The Indian Restaurant will serve authentic Indian cuisine, which will be the very first of its kind in Kandy. There was a huge demand for Indian food in Kandy, especially with the increase in Indian travellers to Kandy’ Wasantha said.
Facilities available in the hotel comprise rooms of various designs and concepts. All guest rooms have private balconies, are luxuriously furnished and have IDD telephone, voice mail, satellite TV, Wi Fi facilities, a mini bar, personal safe lockers and a 24 hour room service. Popularly known for its excellent banqueting facilities, the hotel has the largest amongst the best in the Central Province.
In recent years the hotel has had the distinction of hosting the best local and international conferences. For sports enthusiasts, the hotel has a floodlit Tennis Court, an air-conditioned Squash Court, a fully equipped Gymnasium, a large Swimming Pool and a Kiddies Pool, Badminton Courts, Table Tennis and Snooker.
