Radisson Blu Plaza in Hyderabad appoints Sri Lankan GM
View(s):Nishan Silva was recently appointed General Manager of the Radisson Blu Plaza, a part of Rezidor Hotel Group launched in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, India. Being in the hotel industry for 20 years and having worked in seven countries, Nishan’s avid interest in food and beverage concepts and trends has helped him make a mark in the hospitality industry.
Under his leadership the hotel has won four awards in the last five months including ‘The Rising Star Hotel’ of 2012 presented by the Carlson Razidor Hotel Group at a conference held in Wuxi, China and “Best New Business Hotel of 2012” in India, awarded by Hospitality India Magazine.
Nishan lives in Hyderabad, India with his wife Ruvini Wawulagala and daughter Ayanna. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot Silva.
An old boy of Nalanda College he gained his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Leicester, UK and also holds a Diploma in Hotel Operations Management, from Lucerne, Switzerland.
Nishan believes that innovation is the only way to stay ahead of competition and that the most important asset of any company is its people.
When not working Nishan enjoys watching cricket and playing when time permits. However, “seeing India winning over Sri Lanka makes me impatient,” he says.
He was a member of his school’s cricket team which represented Sri Lanka in England and toured Bangladesh and has also played first class cricket for the Sinhalese Sport Club.
