35 years after Elvis Presley
View(s):Since the demise of Elvis Presley thirty five years back, more than twenty eight million people have passed through the gates of Graceland solidifying its status as an iconic music landmark.
In fact, Graceland, the mansion where Elvis lived, is said to be the most-visited private residence in the world, and it is listed in the US directory as one of the historical places in America. In addition to numerous other attractions, two of Elvis’ jet planes are also kept as exhibits at Graceland – ‘Lisa Marie’ (named after his daughter) and ‘Jetsetter’.
Incidentally, January 8, 2013 marks the 78 Birth Anniversary of Elvis when thousands of Presley fans from all over the world gather to Graceland, each year, to take part in various activities planned by the Graceland staff. One such item is the launching of a yet another new book about Elvis titled, ‘Once Upon a Time Elvis and Anita’ which is available – in both hard-bound and paper-back editions. Since his arrival in the music scene back in the mid-1950s, nearly five hundred books have been written about him.
Elvis is not only the most-photographed person on our planet Earth, but, it appears; he is also one of the most- written-about persons where his trail blazing life and times is put under the microscope by various scholars. Even after 35 years of his death, Elvis remains ‘The Most Important Figure In The Music Industry’.
