In the wake of the 15th death anniversary of the legendary Milton Mallawarachchi, the stage is set for the first ever tribute to the teenage heart throb of the 70’s on 19 January 2013 at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre(NPMRT).
After giving serious thought, Milton’s eldest son, Ranil, has opted for the show promoter, Rajiv Sebastian leader of the band Rajiv and the Clan and CEO of Starlanka Music to handle the event.
‘I’ve known and worked with Rajiv over the years at concerts such as ‘Tribute to Clarence’, ‘The Sooriya Show’, ‘The Legends of Sri Lankan Pop’ and was highly impressed with his capabilities in music arrangements and presentation’ said Ranil, who is now domiciled in Australia
The hidden facts of Milton would be revealed by way of song and drama while Anjalin Goonethilake, Indrani Perera, Shayami Fonseka, Vernon Perera, the Rukmani Devi look-alike young Tashni Perera, Mario Ananda (son of the late Gracian Ananda) are scheduled to join Ranil on duets.
The audience would also be able to witness the versatility of Milton’s grandson at this evening for the very first time.
While Ariyasiri Vithanage, ex-SLBC presenter, is billed to expose the historic landmarks of Milton, who started his career along with the legendary Calypso outfit ’The La Ceylonians’ lead by Noel Ranasinghe, then moving towards classical and ending up embracing Sinhala pop. Gayani Karunaratne of Gayani Dance Studio would add the choreography glamour using the maximum advantage of the collapsible stages at Nelum Pokuna. Rajiv and the Clan would be assisted by an oriental orchestra in regenerating the music of the un-dying 70’s.
