Udaya the outstanding player
View(s):Vidyartha College’s Udaya Ranasinghe, ranked number three in Sri Lanka, confirmed his high reputation with a straight sets win in the Under-15 Boys’ final at the Junior Table Tennis Nationals held at the Jagath Rajapakse Stadium in Nilambe, Kandy yesterday.
After a close first set, Udaya pulled away from his opponents, Nuwantha Niroshana of Dharmasoka to register a 14-12, 11-9, 11-9 triumph. For his efforts, he was picked as the outstanding player of the tournament.

Under-10 Boys: Dilmith Weerasena (Lyceum Nugegoda) beat Thirana Warusavithana (Dharmasoka) 11-3, 11-5, 11-7
Under-10 Girls: Dilmi Colombage (Prajapathi BV) beat Lavangi Rajapakse (Malliyadeva GS) 11-7, 11-9, 11-7
Under-12 Boys: Chathura Gunasekara (Ceylinco Sussex) beat P.D.U. Tennakoon (Dharmaraja) 11-6, 11-9, 11-3
Under-12 Girls: Hansani Piyumala (Anula V) beat Natasha Sandamini (Maliyadeva GS) 11-6, 11-2, 6-11, 11-4
Under-15 Boys: Udaya Ranasinghe (Vidyartha) beat Nuwantha Niroshana (Dharmasoka) 14-12, 11-9, 11-9
