Little World’s Explorer : An Art Exhibition
View(s):In a world that is growing and changing rapidly, art has always maintained a constant appeal to the people. Some use words to express their ideas, or music and yet others express themselves through art : it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so one piece of art speaks volumes. Sisters, Kevinja and Chelsea Karunaratne, have always had a great love for art. Both sisters are students of The Overseas School of Colombo, Kevinja as second grade student and Chelsea a first grade student.
The unique feature of Little World’s Explorer is that the exhibition itself symbolises the sisters’ artistic journey. The paintings exhibited include their first drawings and all works of art created since then until the 15th of January 2013. Kevinja and Chelsea’s parents recognised their daughters’ artistic talents and appropriately arranged for this art exhibition as a celebration of their artistic achievements and their growth as artists.
Kevinja, a prize winner at a children’s art competition hosted by the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka, was very keen to see that the exhibition also made a contribution towards helping underprivileged children, thus she designed her own story book. Limited numbers of the story book will be available for sale at the exhibition, all proceeds from the sale of the story books will be donated to the Helping Hands programme, thus ensuring that the funds are utilised to uplift the lives of children from underprivileged backgrounds. The story book features an innovative and entertaining story that is sure to be enjoyed by all children. Little World’s Explorer exhibition will be held on Sunday the 20th of January 2013 from 10am to 6pm at the Punchi Theatre in Borella. Make it a fun outing together for the entire family, and witness the creative art while making a valued contribution towards the community. For further information please call 0777 5555 10.
