Kerrigan La-Brooy, Sri Lankan born Country singer is back in lime light again with his songs reaching the international charts ahead of all Sri Lankan performers around the world.
His hits have hit Nomber one on the Belgium Charts and made the Top 10 in other European Countries. He’s travelled the world, won numerous awards (particularly for his music), topped the Worldwide Charts for Most Played Artist, been Number 1 in many countries, Appeared on International Television and Radio, Performed for millions of people, Written his own songs, Recorded and Released Singles & Albums, had a Fan club in his name, become a Published Author, Acted in several musical productions, Produced and Directed his own Musical Drama, Received rave reviews from around the world and more recently was humbled to find himself in the ‘Top 100 List of World-Class Sri Lankans’.
He was a Nominee at the 7th Annual Golden Music Awards in Nashville Tennessee in no less than 5 categories. He was the first Artiste from Australia or Sri Lanka to make No.1 on the Worldwide Mainstream Charts when he sped to the top where he remained for an amazing 10 consecutive weeks, rocketing ahead of Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jo Dee Messina, LeAnne Rimes & The Dixie Chicks.
This Sri Lankan singer/songwriter/entertainer was also involved in a special Concert to help the Bushfire Victims of Victoria and was also invited to Judge ‘Berwick idol’. He is devoted to his family and has taken a short break from his career choosing to give his young family his time in their formative years. However he made a brief come-back in March 2012 accompanied by his children and tickets for his Australian Concert were sold out long before the Event took place. Kerrigan has performed in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South America, the USA, Canada and our very own Sri Lanka.
Kerrigan was also voted to No 1 in the ‘Live Performance’ video clip competition with his performance of ‘Oh Lonesome Me’ at a recent Pre-Melbourne Cup Ball sponsored by ‘Whispering Hope’.
The Dinner/Dance featured Mirage, Des Kelly and Replay 6. Kerrigan only agreed to a 15 minute appearance because of his family commitments. He kept to his word and took his wife and 5 children with him.
Kerri was a popular name in the Country Music scene in Sri Lanka some time back. But Country Music scene in Sri Lanka lost his glitter, when he was a just starting to hit the scene. Kerri migrated to Australia many years ago and slowly established his name Down Under as a Country singer.
He was in Colombo few years back as a guest performer at a popular Country and Western Concert. But the family commitments put his singing career on hold for sometime.
But with huge scope in front, he didn’t want to let it lose for good. Kerri is now ready to hit the Aussie bandstands with more energetic manner.
