Powerful businessman is new Hon. Consul for Senegal in Sri Lanka

President of the Republic of Senegal Macky Sall has appointed influential businessman Dhammika Perera as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Senegal in Sri Lanka, his office said.
Mr Perera has commercial interests in a wide range of sectors including banking and financial services, power and energy, leisure, manufacturing and diversified holdings. “Entities under his purview provide employment to approximately 50,000 individuals, contribute 5 per cent of Sri Lanka’s tax revenues and accounts for 3 per cent of the nations’ export turnover. His renewable energy portfolio contributes close to 50 MW to the nations’ power grid,” a statement said
At present he serves as Chairman of Sampath Bank PLC, Vallibel One PLC, Vallibel Finance PLC, Vallibel Power Erathna PLC, The Fortress Resorts PLC, Delmege (Private) Ltd and Greener Water Ltd. He is Deputy Chairman of Hayleys PLC, Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC and LB Finance PLC.
He is also Secretary to the Ministry of Transport.
