‘Red Fort Moghul Restaurant’ is Colombo’s latest addition to its Indian restaurant line up.  Located at No 2, Victoria Place off Elvitigala Road in Narahenpita, Red Fort is one of the very few restaurants serves authentic North Indian cuisine by expert Moghaul chef.

The menu at Red Fort comprises of salad, Shorba(soup), Veg. and non veg. starters, Tandoori, Samundar Ki Khazana( Treasure of sea) Tandoori Chicken varieties, Tandoori Mutton varieties, Biriyani, Roti, Pulao(Rice), Mucchi, Murgh, Gosht (Fish, chicken and mutton gravy) and Meeta (Desserts).
Paneer chattpatta, which had cottage cheese tempered with curry leaves and green chilli.

Tandoori pomfret, Murgh Anarkali, Marchi gulmarg, Bakra sheikh kebab, Murgh jehangiri, Baara kebab, Thangri, Malai kebab, Aloo ghobi and Dhal makini are some of the popular dishes in the menu. Apart from that, Biriyani (chicken, mutton, veg), rice varieties are popular amongst the Sri Lankan clientele.
‘We serve authentic North Indian and Biriyani, Tandoori are two popular items among Sri Lankans. But we always recommend to try other Indian varieties too’ said Pradeep Liyanage, on eof the partners of the Red Fort Project.

Variety of naan and rotti; garlic naan, cheese naan and romali rotti are popular with diners. The Thangri malai kebab is a dish of chicken drumsticks marinated in tandoor masala and cooked in the oven. The chicken was full of flavour and creaminess.

The dhal makini and Cuttle fish preparation however, were not favourite of many, who came to taste the new cuisine.  Gulab jamun (Khoval Balls deep fries), Rasamalai, which was a milk-based desert,
Phirnee, Rasagolla, and Jelabi are some of the favourite Indian desserts.

‘Red Fort’ serves serious tasty in a pleasantly plush and dimly-lit environment. The dishes come in little bowls that may disappoint you size-wise when you first see them, but as you start to eat you realize that you’ll struggle to finish them.

This is rich, tasty, dense Indian food, cooked with great finess. ‘Red Fort’ North Indian Restaurant is a brain child of veteran hoteliers Pradeep Liyanage and Niranjan Mudalige. Both have years of culinary and sales experience in both five star and Resort hotels in Sri Lanka.
