Pop for unity at Rukshan’s charity concert tonight
View(s):The strings are in tune, the lights are focused and the sound checks are under way for an evening of musical ambience with a purpose – “Rukshan Perera Live in Concert”, to be held tonight at the Bishops College Auditorium from 7 p.m. onwards. Much loved pop artist, Rukshan Perera is delighted to be singing, strumming, scatting and even whistling his tunes at a concert that is “quite close to his heart”.
The concert is in aid of the ‘The Unity Mission Trust’, at which he is a musical mentor to the children, who come from all corners of the country for unity camps, with the aim of reintegrating war-torn young ones back into society. “It’s always a good feeling to be singing for a greater purpose,” Rukshan adds.
The concert will see a blend of blues, jazz, acappella, pop and some unique arrangements of popular Sri Lankan tunes. Audiences will also get the opportunity to experience interesting facets of innovative music, as Rukshan vouches the concert will have its very own “unique touch”.
“Rukshan Perera Live in Concert” will feature the De Lanerolle Brothers, VoicePrint, Rajitha, Noeline Honter, Choro Calibre, Sarith and Surith, The Colombo Brass Ensemble along with Harsha and Khrome.
The show promises to be nothing less than the quality you would expect at a Rukshan Perera outing, and profits will be channelled to the “Unity Mission Trust”.
Tickets and Rukshan’s DVD are available at Park Street Mews and Commons.
