Higher Education authorities are devising the details of a plan which will seek to allocate 45 minutes a day towards physical education, in order to encourage university students to adopt healthier lifestyles.
Their training will comprise walking (40 minutes) Yoga, Ridma Gymnastics, swimming and treadmill exercises.
Director-General of Sports and Skills at the Higher Education Ministry, Sunit Gunwardhana, said a study had revealed that 78 percent of undergrads do not even have any walking exercise at all. The new training programme therefore will give them sufficient exercise to keep them strong and healthy.
