Pre-eminent educators for the primary and secondary level
View(s):In this ever challenging world it is imperative that we equip our children with the best education provided by pre-eminent educators. Edexcel, which is a part of Pearson world’s foremost learning company, strives to advance learning and change lives in over 92 countries to help over a million students achieve their potential.
In line with the mission to offer the best possible foundation for a world-class education, the Edexcel International Primary Curriculum caters to pupils in Years 3 to 6 (ages 8-11). Understanding that its responsibility is not limited to such, Edexcel has introduced the International Lower Secondary Curriculum for pupils in Years 7 to 9 (ages 12-14) with the key purpose of preparing pupils for international examination success in mind.
Based on the UK National Curriculum and designed specifically for international schools, the curricula available in English, Math and Science seek to provide pupils a well-rounded education while equipping teachers with an easy-to-implement framework and a straightforward method to monitor pupil progress. The curriculum introduced with an international benchmark of achievement, externally marked achievement tests and certification. The curricula has a flexible structure that allows it to be followed simultaneously alongside other curricula, with ideas for lessons and a framework that allows knowledge to be imparted in a creative manner.
Edexcel not only provides students with opportunities but also invests greatly in training teachers. The teacher training programmes are conducted free of charge by trainers flown in from the UK. Their knowledge and expertise inculcated in our teachers has been handed down to our students as well resulting in many world prizes being won by local students over the years.
Evidence of this is the Edexcel High Achievers’ Annual Award Ceremony. At the last Award Ceremony, Sri Lankan students from over 182 International and Private Schools around the country claimed over two hundred prizes for GCE A/Level and International GCSE examinations in 2012. The ceremony also saw 57 Sri Lankan students claiming world prizes for GCE A/L and International GCSE and felicitated students who excelled in the Primary and Lower Secondary curriculum for the first time.
Edexcel’s Assistant Vice president for the Indian Subcontinent Premila Paulraj cited that ‘Edexcel has been able to capitalise on the local market demand for quality education. The introduction of the primary programs she adds has also been a great success among parents since they now have the opportunity to enroll their children in to a curriculum that offers more than just an education. She concludes with a reminder to all parents that Edexcel offers qualifications that are modern, vibrant and relevant to the 21st century and therefore should be taken into serious consideration when making the all-important choice of an educator that shapes your child’s future.
