Madusanka slams season’s first double ton

Right hand batsman Pasindu Madusanka of Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha had the honour of scoring the first double century in the ongoing Under 19 inter-school cricket season when he slammed a swashbuckling 202 not out against Asoka MV Colombo on day two at Gapaha yesterday.
Madusanka’s knock paved the way for a six wicket win for his side with Asoka MV who were shot out for 116 in the first in the first inning batting the second time fared better to make 270. This left the home ream 42 runs and they achieved the target in 10.1 overs.
St. Peter’s coasted to their fourth outright of the season with an innings and eight runs win over Maris Stella Negombo which concluded at Bambalapitya yesterday.
The Peterites was well on course when play stopped for lunch on day two when they bowled out Maris Stella resuming on their overnight score of 89 for 6 for 124 and then had them struggling on 40 for 2.
Royal recorded their third outright win for the season with an easy 129 runs win over Dharmaraja in the match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday. Royal continued their dominance on the second day when they bundled out the Rajans resuming on their overnight score of 89 for 6 for a score of 134.
Maliyadeva registered a first inning win over S. de. S. Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwala in the match concluded at Kurunegala.
The high scoring match between Moratu MV and Thurstan concluded at Moratuwa saw the latter securing a close first inning win with Moratu MV
St. Benedict’s too recorded a first inning win over St Sebastian’s in the match played at Moratuwa. St Benedict’s after bowling out the home team for 139.
Trinity overcame Mahinda on the first inning in the match played at Galle. Mahinda resuming on their overnight score of 83 for 2 was restricted to a score of 200 after Trinity posted a score of 248 for 7 declared on day one.
Gurukula MV Kelaniya despite making a score of 277 and bundling out Sri Pragnananda MMV Raddoluwa for 55 had to be satisfied with a first inning in the match played at Mahara.
Carey too was denied of an outright win by St. Patrick’s Jaffna in the match played at Jaffna. St. Patrick’s after being bowled out for 111 in the first innings and made to follow on fought back to end the day making 144 for 8. Carey made 258.An allround performance by skipper Chathura Lakshan who made a 108 and had a match bag of ten wickets helped Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama to register an easy first inning win over Kegalu MV at Rathgama.
The match between St. Joseph’s and S. Thomas’ played at Darley Road ended in a tame draw. The highlight of the second days play was fine knock of 87 by batsman in form Dylan Fernandopulle.
Half tons by Salman Fazil, Nishki Ahamed and Arshad Imamudeen helped Zahira to come out on top against Revatha MMV on day one in the match played at Maradana.
