Nandimithra, Java Lane looking for supremacy

Two top football teams in Sri Lanka, Java Lane SC and Nandimithra SC, will clash in the final of the FFSL Premier League Division I 2012 tournament, at the City League Football Complex in Colombo today.
The match will kick off at 3.30 p.m. with a large number of spectators expected.
From the 15 teams that took part in the tournament, Java Lane and Nandimithra reached the top while outclassing other contenders. Despite the fact that Nandimithra came into the finals with an impressive record, experts tip a close contest, with their rivals Java Lane also being a strong side.
However, Java Lane suffered a defeat in the first round at the hands of Moragasmulla SC by a close 0-1 after thrashing Cooray SC by 6-0 in their opening game. They recorded consecutive wins against Old Bens (3-2), Super Beach (1-0), Super Sun (1-0) and Matara City (4-2) before defeating Colombo FC by a thrilling 1-0 in the semifinal.
On the other hand, Nandimithra will be aiming to finish off their campaign in style after recording five wins, two draws and a defeat in eight matches. Nandimithra kicked off their campaign with a resounding 5-0 win against Kandy York before experiencing a one-all draw against Solid SC. They lost to Pelicans SC by 0-3 only to bounce back to record a thrilling 1-all draw against Red Sun SC. From then onwards they recorded outstanding wins against Jupiters (4-0), Colombo FC (2-0) and Golden Star (3-0) before handing Moragasmulla SC a 2-0 defeat in the semi-final.
The winning team will receive the champions trophy and medals along with a cash award of rupees 300,000/- while the runner-up team will be eligible for a cash award of rupees 200,000/- in addition to the trophy and medals. – NA
