Vincent House wins St. Anthony’s Wattala athletic meet

Vincent House emerged champions at the annual Inter-House Athletic Meet of St. Anthony’s College Wattala, which was held at the school grounds last Friday. After the completion of events in the preliminary rounds, Vincent House took major honours from the 17 finals of the events which were held on the final day. The champion house was led by Steve Gerrryn as House Captain and Tuan Faizal as Games Captain while Damith Iddamalgoda guided them along as the House Master.

Stephen House under Akila Shehan as House Captain and Asanka Madushan as Games Captain was placed second. Rufus Anthony was the Master of Stephen House. Calixtus House guided by House Master Vinesh

Karunathilake won the third place overall. Vihagar Dananjaya and Malith Maduranga were the respective House and Games captains of Calixtus. The remaining contender, Austin House finished fourth among the four. Kusal Madushanka and Tharindu Madushanka played a key role as the respective House and Games Captains ably guided by House Master Dinesh Upasena. The school’s Athletic Captain Thilina Dilshan and his deputy Kris de Silva played a major role in making the event a success with additional support from Rev. Fr. Krushan Perera, the sports coordinator, teachers, the prefects and fellow students. The athletic meet received a further boost through the guidance of chief organiser and event patron, Rev. Fr. Mal Fernando, the principal of St. Anthony’s Wattala.

Kumara Gunaratne, Deputy Minister of State Resources and Enterprise Development was the chief guest while Hirantha Perera, the assistant secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
