I think it is very good since both Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralitharan are assets to the team. Muttiah is a player who can adopt different methods when bowling and his skills could be useful in training youngsters. - Ajith Liyanage (shop owner)
These two are experienced players who have had the opportunity of interacting and playing with other foreign players, and also they have been trained under different coaches. The knowledge they gained from these interactions will definitely help them in doing their jobs better as coaches for the team - Anushka Ruwankumara (Cricket Coach)
Any time you bring in coaches it will always help a team. This is a good move because both of them are former national players with a lot of experience. - Aravinda De Silva (Former Sri Lanka Captain)
Both of them were two of the best players in the national team and I think they will be successful in coaching as much as they have been successful in playing. It will definitely be good for the team - Chamil Cooray (Carrom national champion)
Considering the years of experience they have had on the field, I think it is good if they are recruited as coaches. It will be good for cricket in Sri Lanka in the long run. - Deepani Pushpalatha (Shop Worker)
A former player is the best person to coach other players since he has a clear understanding of the conditions and the decisions that have to be taken in a match. Both Murali and Vaas were very good players and their experience as former players will be useful to coach young players. - Dileepa Dissanayake (Student)
I personally don’t approve bringing foreign players since they teach us nothing regardless of the fact that we pay them heavily to do their job. It is far better to recruit our own people as coaches rather than foreigners - Hunaid Hathim (Sportsman)
Muttiah is the best spinner in the world and him coming into the team as a coach is a tremendous advantage. Despite Vaas being labelled a fast bowler, he is more of a seam bowler who also bowls cutters and such bowlers are rare to find. Why should we bring down coaches from foreign countries while we have world’s best players in Sri Lanka? - Langley Mathiasz (National Carrom Coach)
These players are well aware of the current conditions of the field. Especially when it comes to factors such as ground conditions, I think they have more knowledge than former coaches since it has not been that long since they retired from cricket - Nishantha Hennayake (Cricket Coach)
