‘Green Rose’ for ‘Swara’
View(s):Acclaimed actress and producer Nita Fernando’s film ‘Swara’ (Seven Notes) won the Green Rose Award at the recently concluded Jaipur International Film Festival.
The film directed by Sanjaya Nirmal on a story, screen play written by Yolanda Weerasinghe won special jury mention for the film which gives global message in Feature Film category at the 5th Jaipur International Film Festival -2013 held from January 30 – February 3 in Jaipur, India.
Discussing about the HIV infected in Sri Lanka and their pathetic and traumatic journey, ‘Swara’ stars Sachini Ayendra Mahipala, Anusha Rajapakse, Damitha Abeyrathne, W. Jayasiri, Diluni Mallawaarchi, Danu Innasitamby and Nita herself in the lead roles.
The film is woven around the character of Narmada, an internationally famed Sri Lankan professional music composer and a symphony conductor. Highly-sought after Narmada’s life is a success story from every conceivable perspective.
However, an accidental discovery of her being HIV positive has virtually re-configured her life for good, compelling her to embark on a heroic journey against social stigma associated with HIV and AIDS.
Co-produced by Manohan Nanayakkara, chairman of Asia Digital Entertainment, in the technical crew Prabath Roshan is the director of photography with Lal Dissanayake and Nanda Jayakody editing and Manjula Ayagama handing art direction. Channa Wijewardana is the choreographer and Dayasiri Jayasekara, Pradeepa Darmadasa, Nirosha Virajini, Ranjan Saliya and Natalie Gooneratne are playback singers.
