The Lalith Athulthmudali Memorial Oration, organised by the Lalith Athulathmudali Foundation, was held on January 29 at the BMICH Committee Room A in the presence of a distinguished gathering.

The oration was delivered by Nirupam Sen, on the topic, “The Emerging Doctrine on the ‘Responsibility to Protect’ and the Nature of the United Nations’. Mr. Sen was former Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka and India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. He also served as Deputy High Commissioner for India in Sri Lanka, during which period, the late Lalith Athulathmudali was well known to him.
