It was a most absorbing evening for the senior managers of the Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya, when World War 11 veteran, George Davies and his charming wife Barbara, went down memory lane during their recent visit to Sri Lanka. Having joined the RAF in 1943, Davies was transferred to the Royal Navy and served first in Bombay and then in Ceylon.

George hails from Monmouth in Wales and Barbara from Scotland. Their visit was made possible by the Big Lottery Fund’s Heroes Return 2 programme. The evening was hosted by the General Manager of the Grand Hotel, Palaka Perera,
