Life in general should be played fair; however, this is not the case with the staff in charge of cricket at S. Thomas’ College today. In this case a certain senior coloursman from S. Thomas’ has been sidelined from the First XI side after performing well in the only third term cricket match he played in.

He certainly is a very talented bowler and a good allrounder who could be a wicket-taker on any given day. He has proven this in the 2011/12 cricket season, taking the most number of wickets while bowling the least number of overs compared with the other four strike bowlers (Overs – 194, wickets – 42, Average – 15.92, Best – 6/50). For reasons unknown, he has been put into the second XI team, where he still continues to take wickets.

A fresher was played for five matches in the third term and he claimed only one wicket. How is this possible? The senior coloursman continues to play in the second XI. It is a tradition to start the season with the coloursmen and if they under-perform you drop them and play the newcomers, which is fair play, but in this case the senior player was overlooked and not even considered after performing well in his only First XI match. We wonder if the new warden is aware of these happenings and whether the past cricketers involved with Thomian Cricket are playing ball with the rich and famous kids.
