Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology joins EMC Academic Alliance Programme
View(s):Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), the largest IT degree awarding institute in Sri Lanka, today announced it has joined the global EMC Academic Alliance program (EAA) from EMC Corporation. The EAA program provides universities worldwide with technology curricula to educate and transform the next generation of IT and data science professionals, and help meet the industry’s growing demand for advanced technology skills. The news was announced by Professor Lalith Gamage, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and Krishna Kant, Head, EMC Academic Alliance, South Asia & Russia, EMC at the SLIIT Metro Campus, Colombo.

SLIIT is the first institute in Sri Lanka to partner with EMC and offer Information Storage & Management (ISM) as part of their curriculum. The course will be part of the IT engineering curriculum for students in the final year. In addition, SLIIT will also offer advanced courses from EMC in emerging technology areas such as Cloud Computing, Backup Recovery Systems & Architecture and Data Science and Big Data Analytics to its students. As a part of the EAA, EMC will provide SLIIT with instructor training, teaching resources and course material to expand the Institute’s expertise and knowledge in line with the latest industry trends.
With more than 85,000 EMC Proven Professional certifications worldwide, EMC is providing current IT professionals with the skills to adapt for the future, and the capabilities needed to successfully implement transformational technologies in their organizations. More than 1,000 colleges and universities have adopted EMC’s “open” curriculum, allowing today’s students to develop the leading-edge skills to become the next generation of IT and data science professionals. The EMC Academic Alliance provides faculty with free training and resources to teach information infrastructure technologies.
Through the EMC Academic Alliance programme, more than 150,000 students in 60+ countries have completed courseware that prepares them to contribute to, and make informed decisions about, projects that range from storage networking, to cloud migration, to Big Data analytics.
