‘The Silvas’ on their own

‘The Silvas’ is a Sri Lankan family based band now performing in the club circuit in Bern, Switzerland. Led by veteran musician and singer Mano Silva, ‘The Silvas’ is more in to original music than cover versions. ‘I moved to Switzerland about twenty years ago and performed with many of the popular Sri Lankan bands in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. It is, I think high time that we create music and songs. We have been singing cover versions for long time and I thought we should start doing on our own’ Mano said.
‘The Silvas’ comprises of Mihiri Sangeetha, Tharaka Benjamin and Mano himself. Mihiri and Tharaka are Mano’s daughter and son, who are now into new generation music scene in Bern. Their first song ‘On My Own’ is now out on air in Bern and fast becoming a hit.
The song was composed, arranged and produced by Mano Silva. The lyrics and vocals of ‘On My Own’ by Mihiri Sangeetha and the Rap part was done by Tharaka Benjamin.
‘My daughter Komali Upeksha, an original member of the band is not performing with ‘The Silvas’ at the moment as she is expecting a baby’ Mano said. Video directed and produced by Mano Silva and Ridmika.
At present we are working on our next single and will be out soon.‘We enjoy doing our own things. Our second single too is almost finished and hoping to release it to air soon’ he added ‘The Silvas’ are planning to tour Sri Lanka by the end of this year. ‘Yeah, we are much anticipated on this visit and my children are very keen on performing in Sri Lanka.
