The Ministry of Higher Education has launched a special programme for international sportsmen and women in the country, in an attempt to enhance their future career development.
The four-year course will be conducted by former Sri Lankan and international athletes and present lecturers in universities and all participants are eligible for a degree.
This programme is similar to the project which is currently taking place at the Wisconsin University in the USA at which Sri Lanka’s former Olympic runner S. L. B. Rosa is a lecturer.
The programme will be started at the Sabaragamuwa University before spreading into other universities during the next few years.
