Sylvestrians in a spot of bother

View(s):

The Sylvestrians, who are not having the best of seasons, have been dealt two cruel blows by an extremely unkind fate.

Their most successful left arm spinners have both been laid low by injuries. Sumedha Dissanayake, a leading allrounder, suffered a collar bone injury when warming up before a school game and was out of action for three weeks. He has just returned, but as a batsman.
Nimesha Mendis suffered a similar injury at practice a mere ten days later. Mendis and Dissanayake do well-nigh eighty percent of the bowling. In their absence, skipper Dushantha Malalasena, a more than a useful leggie who bowls a wrong-un, has stepped up to the plate with figures of 3 for 7 and 5 for 76 in the last couple of games.

In case their big-match rivals are gleeful about their prospects, the latest information is that both spinners will be ready and primed for action come the 8th of March.Talking of the big match, Vidyartha have go back to 1967 for their last win. In the light of this, a Sylvestrians side sans Dissanayake and Mendis will certainly excite their opponents.
