My teddy bear

My teddy bear’s name is Sanda Fernando. It is yellow in colour. It is a cute little bear with fluffy ears and orange eyes and a black nose. Every afternoon I play with him. He has a nice red bow on his neck. He has a huge tummy and a very happy face. He has very soft fur and he is very cuddly. I keep him with me in the night so that I would be warm with him. I love him very much and he also loves me. I won’t forget my little cute, fluffy teddy bear forever.

My brother’s first day at school

Singing of the birds awakened us early in the morning. I saw that my smaller brother was sleeping, dreaming of his first day to school. It was a pleasant morning which all of us loved. My smaller brother woke up and he brushed his teeth and washed his face. We all ate ‘kiribath’ which our mother cooked. We helped our smaller brother to wear his uniform as it was a red shirt and a dark blue short trouser. Then he prayed to Jesus and worshipped my parents to get blessings throughout the day. We all wish our smaller brother a bright future which made him so happy.

We hurried to Royal International School Pre-Primary section. Teachers welcomed the students with origami flowers which coloured the event. The teachers took the smaller kids one by one to their classrooms. My brother went to the classroom with his new class teacher saying good-bye to us.

After school he came and told many wonderful things which happened on the first day of school. He had done some hard activities that teachers had congratulated him. He also told of his new class and class teacher and his best friend. I wish my brother the best of luck as a student of Royal International School.

Our school library

Our school has a well-furnished library. Our school library is on the first floor. It is in a large hall. It is a quiet and peaceful place. It is bright, airy, clean and tidy.
There are row after row of steel cupboards with glass doors. Books on different subjects are neatly arranged in them.

A librarian is in charge of the library. The librarian, Mrs. Priyanthi is a nice lady. She has a thorough knowledge of the books in the library. There are two sections in the library; the teachers’ section and the pupils’ section. There is a corner for reading newspapers and magazines. We sit there and read during the recess and before and after the school hours.

Save water

Water is very precious and we cannot live without it. So we should not waste it. Droughts and also the increase in population cause a shortage in water. Water to us is very important. We should pay more attention in using water. This will help us to improve in saving water for the future.

There are many ways to save water. For example, we should not flush water unnecessarily. We should throw tissues in the dustbin, not in toilet pits, we should not waste water when washing, bathing and cooking. Please think of the people living in remote areas. They have to fetch water from great distances, and walk miles to get a bucket of water. So let’s not waste precious water. We should save water and ensure the future generations have enough water to live.
