Colombo International Theatre Festival once again
View(s):Following the huge success of the first version, the Second Colombo International Theatre Festival is to be held in March and April. Organised by ‘Inter Act Art’ a cultural group which has been active in various cultural and art work for the last 20 years and had introduced the Black Box Theatre, an alternative theatre space to
Sri Lanka, a number of countries have confirmed their participation this year. ‘Inter Act Art’ is a registered cultural organization under the Ministry of Culture and Arts and a member of the ASSETEJ INTERNATIONAL, Sri Lanka Section (Children’s and Young People’s Theatre Centre of Germany).
The chief guest for this year’s festival is veteran Indian theatre director Dr. Sachin Thewari and the festival opens on March 27 which also is World Theatre Day at Mt. Lavinia Hotel.
The plays that are to be staged are Indian directions ‘The Last Colour Director’ by Shrikant Bhide I Dhyaas, ‘Zheng He When the dragon Ships came’ by Karin Schafer and Karin SchaferFiguren and ‘Cafila’ by Prof. VidyanidheeVanarase and ‘Contrabas’ an Azerbaijan direction by Irina Perlova |Azerbaijani.
‘Miss Margarida’s Way’, a Nepali direction by Motern Krogh (Norway) and ‘Maestro’, a Saudi Arabian direction by Mohammad Alotaibi, Egyptian production ‘Presence’ by Salamaemam and Indo-Sri Lanka production ‘Knotted Ropes’ M. Safeer and FLAME School of Performing Arts and Inter Act Art in India.
Parakrama Niriella’s ‘Disaster Market’ is the Sri Lankan theatre production to be performed at the festival.
