A strong plea is going out to all youth to come, join in a charity run to enable vibrant and dynamic 19-year-old Harshula Wimalshantha who is suffering from cancer of the brain to undergo a delicate and serious surgery abroad.

This charity initiative titled ‘HEARTBEAT’ is to raise funds for Harshula, an only child and past student and Prefect of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia. Organised by his friends and well-wishers, all proceeds from this 5km-run will be donated to his family to support Harshula’s battle against cancer.

Participation of everyone is essential for the success of this event. “We can choose to make a difference in this young boy’s life, so please register and help Harshula face his ordeal,” the organizers said. ‘HEARTBEAT’ will take place at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at the Sports Ministry Grounds (next to Independence Square). Registration will be Rs. 500 each and registration forms may be obtained either at Crescat lobby (today, February 24 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.) or at the S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia Gym (till 8pm on February 28).
