Basil House triumphant at Peterite Athletics Championship

Basil House, with an overall tally of 364 points, won the 74th Inter-House Athletics Championship of St. Peter’s College Colombo.
The meet was held at the school ground with Rear Admiral N.E.L.W. Jayasekara as the chief guest.

Maurice House, with 322 points overall, were placed second while Arthur House, with 312 points, came in third. The fourth, fifth and sixth places were won respectively by Anthony, Nicholas and Peter houses. St. Peter’s athletic captain, Malik Khan, was adjudged the best performer in track events as he went on to win the trophy awarded for the Most Outstanding Senior Athlete. Kushantha Shashika was named the Best Performer in field events.

Dinel Peiris and Navoda Basnayake were named the most outstanding athletes as they went on to share the trophy given away for the junior athletics championship. In the junior category, Mark Vidushan was named as the best performer in track events while the best performer award in field events went to Fleming Sinnappan.

The Inter-House Athletics Championship of St. Peter’s was organised by Rector Rev. Fr. Travis Gabriel with the assistance of Rev Fr. Lakmin Silva, athletic master-in-charge Jumitha Kariyawasam, his assistant Dimitha Gunasekara, athletic coach J.W. Wimalaratne and his deputy Susiripala. – NA
