View(s):BATA – Sunday Times SchoolBoy Cricketer 2013
The Status quo almost remains the same as the 34th Bata-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 competition enters its seventh week.
Yet Minhaj Jaleel of Thurstan College is building his huge castle and now has entered the five figure mark as he finishes this count with a tally of 10,786 votes to his credit.
A.K. Tyron of Richmond College Galle is still in the second place and has finished this count with 3492 votes against his name.
St. Peter’s College skipper, Dushan Hemantha, has boosted his campaign with an additional 180 votes. Dushan’s count Dushan has managed to top the 2500 mark, yet is away from overhauling the popularity A.K. Tyrone who is immediately above him.
Still the remaining slots among the top five are filled by Dinuka Wickramanayake of Trinity College and Madawa Nimesh of Royal Panadura. Even the rest of the line up has remained unchanged from last week.
Sanju Sharuk of Vidyaloka Galle is doing pretty well since he made a sudden entry into the Emerging category four weeks ago. This is his fourth week as the leader in this category and his closest rival, Lahiru Vimukthi of Sri Sumangala Panadura is still behind him. Prasanna Sujith of Uhana MV Ampara popped up into third place pushing Deshan Dhananjaya of Rahula Matara into the fourth slot. Behind Bhanuka Manelanga of St. Mary’s Kegalle, Chamika Amarasekera of Sri Sumangala Panadura made his entry into the competition at the sixth position, still retains his place and he is above Sadeepa Lakshan of Balawana Veyangoda and Sanjika Ridma of St. Servatius, Matara.
Walid Jiffry of Leighton Park continues to enjoy top slot of the International Schools category, as finishes this count with 3578 votes to his credit.
Shasika Rathnathilake of Lyceum Nugegoda who is in the second place also looks to be very enterprising. He too has ended this count with an impressive tally of 1296 votes.
However this week there is a newcomer in this category – Davin Yasath Serasinghe of Gateway International School. He has begun with seventeen votes.
