Sri Lankan consulting engineers to attend Thai conference
View(s):The Consulting Engineers Asia Pacific Conference scheduled to be held from March 6-9 in Thailand will be attended by delegates from the Association of Consulting Engineers Sri Lanka (ACESL).
The conference is a joint venture by Technical Consultancy Development Programme Asia Pacific (TCDPAP) and the Asia Pacific group of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). The theme of the Conference is “Climate Change Challenges/Sustainable Infrastructure Development, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation”.
ACESL said the Technical Consultancy Development Programme for Asia and the Pacific (TCDPAP) was originally a programme promoted by UN-ESCAP for developing consulting capabilities at National, Sub-Regional and Regional levels in the Asia and Pacific Region, and now supported by member countries including Sri Lanka. ACESL is the apex body of consulting engineers in Sri Lanka established in 1980 and was incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 2003. It is a member of the FIDIC (Federation of International Consulting Engineers) and represents the Sri Lankan Engineering Consultancy profession at FIDIC.
ACESL will be represented at the conference by Malith Mendis – President, J. Karunaratne – Vice President and Nihal Perera – Honorary Secretary. Mr. Perera will make the Sri Lanka Country Report presentation while Mr. Mendis will give a presentation on “Coastal Vulnerability Assessment” and Mr. Karunaratne will present a paper on “Design and Operation of Health Care Facilities for Disaster Resilience and Management”.
