Fashion Marketing is a new study pathway for all fashion focussed young individuals to make their career in marketing in the fashion industry. It is hard to think of an organisation that doesn’t need marketing and this continues to be a fast growing sector of business offering employment opportunities for new graduates. The course has been specifically designed to enable students to follow a professional career in marketing. Be it in the private, public, non profit or service sectors. The first semester is a foundation which introduces marketing within a business context. In the second semester students are exposed to brand management, strategic marketing, Marketing communications, consumer behaviour, internet marketing and Advertising. They will also gain the experience of campaign planning and fashion event promotions. All subjects are linked to fashion and students have the choice of selecting either local market research or international market research for their relevant projects.

A variety of individual and group based assessments are used including written reports, presentations, portfolios, projects, client briefs etc..

The course is relatively new to the country and currently has a good scope in the job market. The fashion retails constantly needs employees on their marketing projects. The fashion marketer can also be employed as a visual merchandiser or a fashion buyer.

How do the clothes reach the public and the target consumers after they are designed and fabricated? That is where the Fashion Marketing team comes in. Fashion Marketing combines the elements of advertising, design and business administration, as well as a solid understanding of the fashion world, in order to take a new clothing line and get the attention it needs to be successful.
