Raigam Tele’es opens
View(s):The 9th ‘Raigam Tele’es’, tele-award ceremony to recognize the talent of the television media will be held at the Water’s Edge on the evening of May 17, 2013.
Raigam Tele’es covers all sectors of the television media including tele-dramas, sports, children’s, political, news, documentary, reality and many other programmes and the award ceremony is also to recognize the talents of the technical crew involved in the industry.
Raigam pioneered the introduction of the SMS to select the winners of popular – awards.This time too the viewers will get the chances to use SMS to select their choice of the most popular actor, actress and tele-drama. To register one’s choice, one has to type name of Teledrama, space, name of Actor/ Actress and send to 0772-522522 between April 1 and May 15, 2013. Two tickets each to enjoy the Raigam Tele’es will be presented to 25 lucky viewers selected from those who send in SMSs.
Prathibha Parabha Award was introduced in 2007 which is a once in a life time award. The personages thus honoured so far are Dr. D.B.Nihalsinghe, Shan Wickramasinghe, Kalashoori Titus Thotawatta, Kalashoori Sathischandra Edirisighnhe, Lucion Bulathsinhala and Tony Ranasighe.The last day for accepting applications for Raigam Tele’es was January 31, 2013 but an extension had been made to apply for awards and further details could be obtained from the Raigam Tele’es Secretariat or alll TV channels.
The judge panel consisting seven members among whom most have served in similar panels include Prof. Patrick Rathnayake, the chairman of the panel of Judges and other Jury Members are Prof. Ajantha Hapuarachchi, Prof. S.J. Yogaraj, renown Film critique and Journalist Gunasiri Silva, artist Buddhadasa Galappaththi, journalist Jayantha Rukmani Siriwardhane, Senior lecturer Hansamala Ritigahapola and senior Administrative Officer Ranasingha Dissanayaka.
