Dilan faces no-faith motion over Rizana execution
View(s):A no-confidence motion against Foreign Employment Minister Dilan Perera over the handling of the case of executed Sri Lankan housemaid Rizana Nafeek, has been tabled in Parliament. In the motion signed by 14 UNP MPs, the minister is accused of failing to extend meaningful support in any manner to Ms. Nafeek, who was executed in Saudi Arabia earlier this year after being convicted of killing an infant in her care.
The motion states that the minister, while mismanaging these issues, is engaged in a futile attempt to shift the blame squarely on Saudi Arabia instead of shouldering the responsibility.
