Left arm pacie Amrit Sri Mahan scythed through the Antonian front-liners to set up a victory for the Trinitians in their limited over clash with the Antonians at Asgiriya.
Three batsmen were bowled through the ‘gate’ as Sri Mahan seamed the ball in having pitched on the perfect spot.
The role of spinners Sudaraka and Jayasinghe also needs emphasis. In a combined 15.1 overs they conceded only 14 runs.
Damitra Panditharatne, the pick of the Antonians, stood firm to top-score with 36. Dilan Bandara kept him company to rescue their team from the brink.
Opener Lakshita Dassanaike played a key role in taking Trinity towards the target. His 57 was the only half century in the match.
Praveen and Udapola had two apiece, but it was the latter who fired the imagination with his leggies.
The two teams now draw level at 15 each in the Richard Aluvihare Trophy series.
St. Anthony’s 92 in 43.1 overs (D. Panditharatne 36, S. Bulathsingala 13, D. Bandara 21; A. Sri Mahan 5 for 32, C. Sudaraka 3 for 6)
Trinity 93 for 5 in 31 overs (L. Dassanaike 57, L. Jayasinghe 13 n.o; C. Praveen 2 for 23, K. Udapola 2 for 18) – AK
