Rotary Institute of Nugegoda has come up with an innovative project in collaboration with Whitireia NZ to facilitate Sri Lankan students to complete part of their New Zealand studies while in Sri Lanka.

Rotary Institute of Nugegoda is not new to the students and parents of Sri Lanka. Rotary has helped thousands of our students to get through their studies in Sri Lanka over that last 32 years.

On the other hand Whitireia NZ is one of the largest, NZ government owned tertiary education providers in New Zealand with campuses in Auckland, Wellington and Porirua.

Rotary Institute of Graduate Studies (RIGS) was founded by the Rotary group to enable Sri Lankan students interested in studying in New Zealand to complete part of their studies while in Sri Lanka. RIGS is now recruiting students for the 1st six months course which is scheduled to start on the 21st of March at Rotary Nugegoda.

RIGS chairman and experienced educationalist Mr. Rohan Rodrigo said that he is proud to be part of an exciting project of this kind. “This will enable our students who have completed their A/Ls to start studying towards an internationally recognized qualification while still in Sri Lanka. For the last 3 decades we have helped our students up to finishing their A/Ls. Now we want to help these students beyond that. We could not ask for a better partner than the well respected Whitireia NZ. Under this programme, students will be able to complete 6 months of a programme offered by us that will be recognized by Whitireia NZ that will enable the students to walk in to the 2nd half of the 1st year of a two year diploma that will make a student eligible for long terms options in New Zealand under the study to work pathway established by the immigration New Zealand” said Rohan

Under this innovative project a student will be able to save up to Rs. 1.5 to complete the New Zealand National Diploma in Business.
RIGS will utilize the service of a range of experienced lectures to deliver the following 6 papers based on New Zealand curriculum. Accounting Principles, Economics, Principles of management, Marketing, Principles of business computing, and quantitative analysis.
RIGS will also provide assistance, help and guidance to students completing this course to secure their student visas to New Zealand. Students thereafter will be able to study for 18 months in one of the Whitireia NZ campuses in New Zealand and be eligible to qualify to “Study to work” pathway.

MOU between Whitireia NZ and RIGS was signed at the Nugegoda campus recently. This MOU was facilitated by a Pro X New Zealand Ltd, a Wellington based education Consultancy Company which is also a partner of RIGS.

Pro X NZ founder director Mr. Asoka Weerasundara is on a short business trip to Sri Lanka and said that he and Whitireia NZ are privileged to be associated with a reputed education institute such as Rotary who has a clean and proven track record in education in Sri Lanka for over three decades.

RIGS management has set a very attractive 1st year introductory price of SLR 95,000 for the course.
