Richmond was unlucky as they missed out on pulling off a dramatic win as Mahinda escaped defeat in the 108th Lover’s Quarrel big match concluded at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.
Richmond who were chasing 114 runs for victory fell short in nine overs by 22 runs as they ended the day with 92 for 1 with Sithara Gimhana’s effortless knock of 65 in just 28 balls which included six boundaries and a six, which in the end proved to be in vain.
The match was a memorable one for right arm spinner A.K. Tyrone who was their leading figure in Richmond achieving 11 outright wins this season as he ended with a match bag of 11 for 91.
