View(s):This inaugural ‘Spark iT’ competition whittled down a pool of 60 plus business plans, to four grand finalists, each of which won Rs. 1 million in funding from competition sponsors MAS Holdings, Brandix, John Keells Holdings and Dialog Axiata. Further, the final 10 shortlisted business plans will be automatically submitted to compete in ‘Venture Engine’, another entrepreneurship fund competition, initially launched in 2012, which will be held again in May 2013.
The four grand finalists of the first ‘Spark iT’ were cloud based education institute social network Atiral, full-service vehicle maintenance and related services shop autos.lk, homegrown products marketplace Search Sri Lanka and remote medical diagnosis offering TopDocOpinions. Additionally, the top 10 shortlisted also included the above four grand finalists as well as social country Bubland, game designer C.G. Software, a wedding app (application) by InnoWIDE.lk, travel site Otium Holidays, online company finances management tool FinanceLK.com and web designer WELOVEIT Studio. (JH)
