Edexcel Professional Diploma in Teaching offered by Gateway Graduate School in Colombo, Kandy and Negombo
View(s):A year and a half ago, Gateway Graduate School together with Edexcel International introduced an exciting new teacher teaching
course to offer a recognized qualification to all teachers and to improve the standards of teaching in international and private schools throughout Sri Lanka. In September this year, the first intake that completed their course of study received the Edexcel Professional Diplomas in Teaching. The second intake of Colombo and the first intake of Kandy received their Diplomas at the recently concluded convocation of the Gateway Graduate School. Mrs. Premila Paulraj, Assistant Vice President, Indian Subcontinent and Mr. Suriya Bibile, Territory Manager, Sri Lanka, Maldives & Pakistan of Edexcel Pearson were present to award certificates to the teachers who successfully completed the Diplomas. In this short period of time Gateway has had six intakes in Colombo, three intakes in Kandy and one intake in Negombo. Plans are already afoot to provide an articulation pathway to the Diploma holders in teaching to complete a BA in Education.
Ms. Sutcliffe, Director of Regulations, Standards and Research of Edexcel during her visit to Sri Lanka mentioned that Edexcel was pleased to offer this qualification through Gateway due to the confidence they had in Gateway’s passion and the commitment to quality education. She said that by offering this internationally recognized qualification in Sri Lanka, it is not only the teachers of Gateway Schools that will benefit but that it will contribute towards the professional development of all teachers in Sri Lanka.
