The college is rapidly growing not only in the zone but also in the entire province for its academic and extracurricular successes. The 2011 G.C.G.(O/L) results gave glory to the college with the highest in the G.C.E.(O/L). Furthermore the 2012 G.C.E.(A/L) results reached a milestone in its life span, as three students obtained three A’s in 2012. Due to the dedication and commitment of the strong academic staff and the untiring administration of the principal, has brought the school to this level.
The Primary section of the school plays an important role in turning out students with well balanced personalities. Annually few students get through the Grade 5 scholarship examination while a large amount of students getting more than 100 marks which is a reasonable result for a village school.
The extracurricular activities take high up place in De Soyza MV. The administration, the staff and the parents afford their fullest support to reveal their born talents. The college western band, “Wess” dancing troop, aesthetic unit and sculpture unit plays major roles in the annual activities.
The College Elle boys team, under 15 boys volleyball team and under 17 volleyball team emerged Moratuwa Zonal Champions in 2013. The Agriculture unit bagged the championship title at the Moratuwa Zone Farm project competition, 2012.
The college aesthetic section is bursting with talent. Students who perform Dancing, Art and Music have obtained places at Zonal,
Provincial and All Island levels.
Apart from the academic performance, with the help of the vice Principal Rev. Lelwala Wimaladamma Himi, the school is bent on discipline and religious upbringing and considers its prime point and responsibility in moulding the character of individuals. In view of this, students are made to participate in sill campaigns and in other coordinated activities.
The capability of the principal, staff and the students has brought them to this standard. It has not been an easy path. For these successes they wish to thank the Mayor of Moratuwa Municipal Council Mr. Samanlal Fernando and the Western Province Educational Inspection Minister Mr. Moris Wijerathna, the parents and well-wishers for providing all facilities and pouring their blessings for the school’s success.
