Royal College emerge overall winners at CA Sri Lanka sponsored Ideation 2013
View(s):Royal College emerged victorious bagging the overall winner’s trophy at the recently concluded commerce day competition of Devi BalikaVidyalaya ‘Ideation 2013’ sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).
Its capacity as one of the country’s leading tertiary education providers, CA Sri Lanka continued to provide leadership to the country’s student population by playing a pioneering role in sponsoring the commerce day, which saw over 350 students representing the event from leading schools in Colombo.
CA Sri Lanka’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Aruna Alwis who was the guest of honour at the event noted that the Institute has consistently spearheaded a range of unique initiatives for the benefit of the country’s student population by providing leadership in various student related programmes held across the country, in its continuing aim to update students on their knowledge in accounting and other subjects.
CA Sri Lanka provided sponsorship for the event as part of the Institute’s continuing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. CA Sri Lanka’s technical manager Ms. Hiranthi Wijetunga provided inspiring insights on the importance of choosing a globally sought after profession during a career guidance session which was held on the sidelines of the event.
CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse emphasized that today the Institute boasts of unparalleled standing in the accounting world with a mammoth active student base of over 41,000 due to its globally recognized qualification.
He added that the Institute’s aim is to attract the best and the brightest of students from the commerce and non-commerce streams to follow the globally renowned chartered accountancy course.
“It is important for students to focus on a rewarding career which will always offer them employment opportunities no matter where they are,” Mr. Rajapakse noted.
Emphasizing on the importance of students to engage in extracurricular activities apart from their day to day studies, Mr. Alwis noted, “Extracurricular activities help students in developing their personality and also learn important skills such as teamwork, balancing different priorities, time management etc. These skills together with a sound educational background can be invaluable for them when they join the corporate world, he added.
