N’Eliya ready for bumper season

By Shelton Hettiarachchi

Come April, it will once again be the Nuwara Eliya season, and this year the city is readying itself for the annual influx of visitors from all corners of the country to ensure that the season is a success.

Nuwara Eliya Mayor Mahinda Dodampegamage said the town was determined to correct the lapses of the 2012 festival to make this year’s season a 100 per cent success. He said that activities have been planned for the entire month starting on Monday (April 1).

The Mayor has been holding meetings with government officials in the area, including the Government Agent, to finalise the program for the next four weeks and pointed out that Nuwara Eliya’s infrastructure facilities had been improved since last year.

Mr Dodampegamage emphasised that the beneficiaries of the festival must be the town’s citizens, who look forward to the annual season as an event promising large profits for local businesses.
