Showing their flair for hair

The 8th annual graduation ceremony and hair show of the Ramani Fernando Hair and Beauty Academy, together with Sunsilk, the premier hair care brand of Unilever Sri Lanka was held on March 20 at the Grand Ballroom, Galadari Hotel, Colombo.

The theme of the event being “Hair Art 2013”, the creations of the students were categorised into four themes, Bling- the 2013 Brazilian Beat, Man Power- Power dressing , Bridal Show Stoppers (by Aslam Hussain, Darshi Keerthisena, Sonali Dharmawardena, and Wedding Dreams ) and Fantasy- Fantasia Wearable Art. Around 70 models showcased the talents of the students. The fashion show was choreographed by Senaka De Silva.
Chief Guest for the evening was Chairman of Unilever Sri Lanka Amal Cabraal,while former Mrs World and MP Rosy Senanayake was the Guest of Honour. Well known personalities such as Sangeetha Weerarathna, Ramzi Rahaman, Kumar Sangakkara, Anarkali Arkarsha and Hemalallindre Ranawaka (Koluu) were at the event.
101 students graduated from the Sunsilk-Ramani Fernando Hair and Beauty Academy from both Colombo and Kandy. There were special awards for the best Sunsilk student, the best fantasy creation and the best dressed ladies and gentleman of the evening. International gold medallist lecturer Lucky Lenagala also received her award from City and Guilds.
CEO and Managing Director of Ramani Salons Ramani Fernando, emphasised that the students have worked exceptionally hard and showcased their creativity to the fullest through varying hairstyles. Asanga Ranasinghe, Director- Marketing Home and Personal Care Unilever Sri Lanka added that “It is a great pleasure to see our Sunsilk Scholarship winners graduating. Giving these individuals the opportunity to follow their dream and assisting them to become economically independent, is a service that Sunsilk does to the beauty industry and the society as a whole.”
