Jayewardenepura counterparts in the final, which was played earlier this month. The eventual winners, who call themselves the Mora Sharks, had a rare boon in their preparation for the much-awaited Red Bull Campus Cricket World Series Championship, which begins in two days.

They received the expertise of Sri Lanka cricketers Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne in addition to a special training session. The cricketers also had the opportunity to interact with the two cricketing stars, former Test cricketer Brendon Kuruppu and the Colombo Colts Cricket Club coaching staff.

Chandimal, the skipper of Sri Lanka’s Twenty20 team, and Thirimanne imparted their experience on the world stage. In addition, the duo gave the Mora Sharks side some valuable tips on how to plan a Twenty20 game by stages and sessions.

Finals is expected to be bigger and better than ever with the participation of six international sides. Among them are campus teams from Australia, England, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and hosts Sri Lanka.

The tournament, which begins on Tuesday, will span a period of five days played as two double headers. Two games will be played during the day while two games will be played under lights on a daily basis. According to the tournament structure, the six participating teams will be divided into two groups of three with each team getting to play the other twice during the group stage from April 2 to 4. The top two sides of each group will proceed to the semi-finals, which will be played on April 5 with the winners set to clash in the final on April 6.

The Red Bull Campus Cricket is the world’s one and only International University League Cricket championship played in accordance with ICC standards. Entrance for spectators will be free on all days.
