Indian online restaurant guide Zomato, which was formerly known as Foodiebay.com, is expanding into South Asia, and particularly Sri Lanka, according to a statement by the company’s Sri Lankan legal adviser C. Mathew & Co.
Founded in 2008, the online guide has, to date, featured 72,300 venues. It also offers up restaurant menus, reviews and a blog. Currently providing information for four countries and 18 cities, including India’s Chennai and Hyderabad, Zomato has also been ranked among the top 25 internet companies In India in 2010.
Further, the statement also noted; “Once a user registers, Zomato makes it their business to cater to the individual needs of the user, such as food preferences and location. They believe in being the world’s most comprehensive resource for letting their customers know anything and everything they might want to know about the food before they eat it”. (JH)
