Leapset is a cutting edge tech company dedicated to supporting businesses through the innovative use of technology.
The company is rooted in the hub of innovation – the Silicon Valley in California.
The product management, sales and marketing, on-site customer support and legal functions are carried out at the Leapset headquarters based in Redwood City, California. The Sri Lanka R&D centre undertakes the engineering and quality assurance functions for the entire product suite and also handles technical operations, global software support, BPO and shared services.
The company says it supports small and medium scale businesses chiefly by facilitating access to consumers that are online. Leapset generates more revenue for customers through online ordering services, promoting loyalty programs and giving access to special deals via consumer smartphones. The Leapset system also empowers merchants through reduced credit card fees, lower operational costs and higher overall efficiencies. The merchants are also benefited by real-time information that gives an insight to consumer and sales trends and benefit by gaining a completely risk-free and fully functional solution with no major upfront payments.
Commenting on the business model, Rasika Karunatilake, General Manager of Leapset, said, “We mainly cater to the restaurant and F&B industry. We help businesses attract a large consumer base which is now very much online as a result of the advent of the smartphone. Our turnkey product suite ensures that the entire experience is completely seamless to both consumers and merchants. The translation of an online presence to offline sales gives our customers access to markets that were hitherto untapped. Our applications are also fully cloud enabled and our customers are thus able to identify their business strengths and eliminate potential weaknesses”. Mr. Karunatilake has over 14 years of experience in the IT industry and holds a first degree in Computer Science from the Manchester Metropolitan University, an MBA from the University of Hull and is a Project Management Professional.
Leapset is currently expanding its Sri Lankan operation ramping up hiring as the company enters its next phase of growth, the company has perennial vacancies in its four technical practices viz. Java (J2EE and Swing), Web (LAMP, Javascript and AJAX), Database (DB Engineering, Administration and Warehousing) and Mobile (Android, iOS and Windows mobile) as well as in the UI, Application Support, Embedded Software, Release Management and QA divisions. Mr. Karunatilake said “We are currently experiencing significant growth as our sales teams in the US are planning a nationwide deployment in 2013. We are looking for high calibre individuals who can help take us through to the next level; as a software product company we need to be performance orientated and sky’s the limit for good performers at Leapset. All our staff members gain the opportunity to work out of the Headquarters in Redwood City, CA. Employees participate in training programs, conventions and conferences and a host of other activities that help them grow technically and increase their knowledge of the business domain.”
Mr. Karunatilake added that Leapset maintains a very flexible and open culture where the senior management interacts regularly with all levels of staff; the company has an ‘open door’ policy and this has helped the US and Sri Lanka team to work together resulting in faster turns-around times.
Speaking of opportunities for career growth, he noted that: “We have individuals who have experienced rapid growth and grown to leadership positions in a very short period of time. We give preference to candidates with high aptitude and creativity who can grow with the organization.
Experienced candidates possessing niche skills will also be well placed as the company has embraced several new cutting-edge technologies. Our aim is to hire and retain the best and brightest as we want to be the number one technology company in Sri Lanka”.
