MMI celebrates the Sinhala & Tamil New Year promoting unity amongst all religions

The air is filled with joy and goodwill in the hearts of the people during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, and the familiar sounds of the Koha birds can be heard. It’s a time for both children and adults to exchange greetings and revive old customs, and this was no different for the children of Modern Montessori International (MMI).
MMI held its celebrations for Sinhala and Tamil New Year on April 5, 2013, which took place at the MMI school premises. It was a fun-filled day where the children partook in traditional Avurudhu games and enjoyed the food and sweetmeats. As MMI is the multicultural school that it is, it was a pleasure to witness all the children, no matter their religion, participating and enjoying the Avurudhu celebrations as one united family.
