Music for a cause
View(s):One Night Only, a charity concert in aid of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital was held on March 22 at the Hilton Residences Grand Ballroom. The event was organised by the Charity Committee, an ensemble of five ladies who have dedicated their precious time for the causes they champion.
The evening started off with a warm welcome by Blessie Keegal, host for the evening. The star performers were Meneka de Fonseka Sahabandu accompanied by Soundarie David on piano and Filipino singer Shana Dagny. The audience, fuelled by the sumptuous three course dinner preceding the show, were serenaded by Meneka with a selection of opera classics. Shana performed some fabulous Broadway numbers and even some Disney classics-often in costume!
The proceeds from the show will be directed to the refurbishment of Dr. Dehan Gunasekara’s Ward 17 of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.
