Readying for the Electric Peacock Festival
View(s):The excitement will hit fever-pitch once again, as the Electric Peacock is ready to take flight, this time with British rap sensation Tinie Tempah making his way to centre stage.
The young 24 year-old Tinie Tempah really is living the dream. No one, least of all himself, could have predicted the scale of success created by his No.1 debut album, Disc-Overy. To date 1.3 million copies of Disc-Overy sold worldwide, bagging 12 major awards, and dishing out 4 chart-topper (Pass Out, Written In The Stars, Earthquake, R.I.P).
Tinie Tempah is also the first British rapper to sell over 1 million singles in the US after Written In The Stars went to No.12 in the Billboard charts. His crowning achievement to date however, was in the summer of 2012, where he was handpicked to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics.
In the last two years, Tinie has collaborated with, Wiz Khalifa, Soulja Boy, Wretch 32, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding, Swedish House Mafia, Kelly Rowland, J. Cole, and, of course, Labrinth. He most recently collaborated with Roc Nation signing Rita Ora and scored his fourth number 1 single. His free-to-download Happy Birthday EP, released just before Christmas, racked up hundreds of thousands of downloads in just hours.
What makes Tinie’s success even more spectacular is his global reach; a first for a British rapper, Tinie’s name is known throughout the world, with fans from New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and, crucially, America. US X-Factor, David Letterman and Jay Leno have all booked the boy from Plumstead, while US rappers have showered praise on his lyrical skills and fans have snapped up his singles. From national to international waters, Tinie has become one of the UK’s most successful musical exports.
Supporting Tinie on stage will be AlunaGeorge a fresh new duo from the UK, consisting of Aluna Francis (vocals) and George Reid (production).[1]They are amongst the final three contenders for the Brits Critics’ Choice Award and on the shortlist for the BBC’s influential Sound of 2013 poll.
Organisers request fans to get their tickets early in order not to miss out. Tickets are available on Anything.lk.
